EDUCATONAL FEATURES

The High School Attached to the University of Tsukuba has a 120 years’ history as a full-time, comprehensive school, and observes the three educational principles of autonomy, independence, and freedom.
Along with our progressive educational practices, we continue to aim at cultivating distinctive students by promoting higher levels of academic work and developing their minds and bodies so that they can attain higher intellectual and physical capabilities.
Thanks to their unremitting efforts, our graduates continue their studies at university, and a great number of them play active roles in various fields in society today.
Our school is located in the central part of Tokyo, conveniently accessible by all means of transportation, and our spacious campus is well endowed with lush greenery.
In this favorable environment, in addition to their academic work, our students participate enthusiastically in various events and club activities.
All school events, including cultural festivals (Toin-sai), sports meets, annual inter-high school sports matches, and school excursions, are organized and managed by student-led committees under the guidance of our faculty.
Each summer, our first-year students take part in four days’ class camping at the school’s educational facilities (Toin-ryo) located at the Tateshina highlands in Nagano Prefecture. Our volunteer graduates accompany the students along with class teachers, and support their outdoor activities during the camp, which strengthens the bonds between alumni and students. Some of the students revisit Toin-ryo either in their school days or after graduation and participate in various activities.
